Darren Ferguson’s start to holding the reins at Peterborough have started raising eyebrows over the clubs signings so far.
With the 19/20 season fast approaching, it seems the London Road outfit have ambitious plans and their signings strongly reflect that.
The 8th signing so far, brings in the hugely rated defender Frankie Kent for an undisclosed sum on a three year deal. Kent was nurtured through the youth system at Colchester and quickly made a name for himself winning player of the year award in the 18/19 season, and John McGreal handing the skippers job after notching up more than 140 appearances.
Talking about the signing on the club’s official website Ferguson said: ‘Frankie has played a lot of games for his age, he has been a captain there, he is a leader for his age, has loads of potential, is a good size and we see him as a right-sided centre back. He has good balance, is good with the ball at his feet and when I met him, I could see how eager he was to join and that was great because there were a lot of clubs in for him.’
‘It is a big one for us. We have done our recruitment very well in this close season, and we are looking forward to working with them when they come back for pre-season on Monday. I am really pleased with how things have gone so far.’
Kent had one year left on his contract at Colchester and was grateful to the club for giving him his chance but was now looking to the future and a successful season with Posh at a higher level of football. He said: ‘This is the next step and I am looking forward to hopefully a promotion push with Peterborough.’
